Watchlings

Unaffiliated Watchling – Anywhere (17 RP) (Esp. Orlind, Mortannia, Schattenburg)

Emissaries from the lands of the fey, the few scholars who know of watchlings call them different names depending on their country of origin.  They have mingled with mortal races since they first walked Zenith, and have been silently watching their wards ever since.  From time to time, the fey courts will deliver instructions to the watchlings, allowing them to assist mortal life in some endeavor.  They rarely reveal their true form, which resembles a slender, lanky humanoid with vibrant multi-hued hair, varied skin tones, and bright emotive eyes.

  • Alternate Form – A watchling can assume the form of a single humanoid race of medium size. The form is static and cannot be changed after character creation.  The watchling gains a +10 racial bonus on disguise checks made to appear as a member of the race whose appearance it assumes.  Changing its shape is a standard action.  This trait otherwise functions as alter self, save that the creature does not adjust its ability scores.
  • Feyblood Affinity – A watchling sorcerer with the fey bloodline treats its Charisma score as 2 points higher for all sorcerer spells and class abilities.
  • Curiosity – Watchlings are naturally inquisitive about the mortal realm. They gain a +4 bonus on diplomacy checks to gather information, and Knowledge (history) and Knowledge (local) become class skills for them.  If they choose a class that has either of these Knowledge skills as class skills, they gain a +2 racial bonus on those skills instead.
  • Worldbound – Watchlings receive a +2 racial bonus on Knowledge (nature) checks.
  • Watchlings receive Sylvan and Common as a starting language. Watchlings with a high intelligence modifier may choose Aquan, Auran, Aklo, Celestial, Ignan, or Terran as a bonus language.

Seelie Watchlings – Anywhere (17 RP)

Quasi-mortal offspring who owe allegiance to the Seelie court, the Seelie watchlings are weak compared to the Sidhe lords, but are unrestricted and unbound by the dogma that grips the Sidhe.  Capable of growth and adaptation, they are regarded by the court as both dangerous and frivolous.  Fortunately for them, they are often forgotten about once they spend enough time in the mortal realms.  Capable of taking human form, their natural form is that of an eerily beautiful sylvan creature comprised entirely of earthen tones and hauntingly bright eyes.

Unseelie Watchlings – Anywhere (17 RP)

Spawn of the Unseelie court, their watchlings tend to be frivolous and highly appreciative of their freedom.  They thrive among nearly all mortal societies, often establishing themselves as socialites or idols with a strong, almost cult-like following.  Unlike their Seelie cousins, they are almost complete masters of their emotions.  The silent, icy fury of the Unseelie court is well known though, and manifests in their watchlings with equal fervor.  In their natural forms, Unseelie watchlings are pale, sylvan and alien; favoring colors of blues, greens, and blacks.
