DESCRIPTION
Harvested from veins that appear only in the Iron Maiden Valley in Schattenburg, Blood Iron is said to actually be an organic byproduct of an unimaginably powerful being that dwells deep in the earth referred to only as the Blood-Iron King. Given its name for its rich reddish color and the penchant for the veins of mineral to ooze a soft blood-like liquid when mined, blood iron is slightly more durable than typical steel and makes for effective bloodletting tools.
Weapons crafted from blood iron deal an additional point of bleed damage whenever their wielder inflicts bleed damage and automatically deal bleed damage on a critical hit equal to the weapon’s critical multiplier. Bleed damage inflicted by a blood iron weapon stacks with itself. Armor crafted from blood iron helps staunch bleeding effects, reducing the amount of bleed damage taken by 1 (for light armor), 2 (for medium armor) or 3 (for heavy armor). This reduction is effective against all forms of bleed, including ability bleed and can reduce bleed damage to 0.
Shields made from blood iron do not provide any additional benefit.
Note: While the price of blood iron might not be prohibitive, the availability of blood iron is limited and merchants typically charge up to double or even triple the listed price due to its scarcity.
