Talislav

Once part of Crownslight and Adderfield, the youngest county of Mortannia only nominally belongs to Mortannians.  On the heels of the second Scalekin War, the estate belonging to enigmatic draconic wizard Severius Talendar Ryn suddenly appeared at the northern edge of the Duskard Mountains and a breed of physically superior semyedrak claimed the surrounding plains for their own.  Although the crown made an effort to retake the land, Ryn’s response was as efficient as it was brutal, crushing the advancing Mortannian Army with minimal casualties and negotiating himself into Mortannian nobility as the newly minted Baron of Talislav.  Though technically another vassal of the Mortannian Throne, it is well known that Ryn answers to no master, and fortunately keeps largely to himself.  Though very much still alive and active, Baron Ryn has never appeared at any sort of Mortannian social function, instead sending a variety of proxies (and even then only on rare occasion).

  • Dracofex Manor – The seat of power for the enigmatic Baron Ryn is a curious sprawling manor seemingly molded into the mountains in which it sits. It overlooks a small semyedrak village which bears the same name and boasts of peculiar foreign architecture.  The baron has not been seen in Mortannia for centuries, leading some to believe that he has long since perished.  However any efforts made to wrest control of Talislav from his claws is met with powerful magic and an army of well-trained draconic semyedrak.
  • The Bottomless Burrows – A strange, unnatural collection of virtually identical hills dot the northern landscape of Talislav. The semyedrak do not wander amongst the hills or explore the bizarre perfectly cylindrical holes that dot them for fear of arousing the ire of some form of unknown ancient evil said to predate even the Nameless Dark.  Explorers from farther afield have had minimal success in mapping the burrows, reporting curious metallic walls that bar their path or strange mechanical traps that pull the unwary down into the depths of the earth, never to be seen again.  Some rumormongers believe it was these burrows that Baron Ryn sought in claiming Talislav for his own.
  • Nizhova Hollow – A small mining village located in the south of Talislav that was once a steady source of copper and iron before Baron Ryn wrested control of the county and exiled the commoners from their home. Now the homes remain, but the village lies empty.  The old mines are guarded by peculiar golem constructs sent by Ryn and bar anyone from entry, be they human or semyedrak.  Some whisper that this is where the baron keeps his untold wealth and ambitious treasure hunters often find themselves drawn to the allure of riches and infamy.  If any have successfully infiltrated the mines none would know, for no one has ever returned.

Baron Severius Talendar Ryn (Male Unique Red Dragon) – Much is rumored but little is truly known of the enigmatic wyrm that laid claim to the western reaches of Mortannia.  Some paint him as a rapacious lothario, unable to fully sate his hunger for wealth, women, and power.  Others say that he is a reclusive wizard, forever focused on occult rituals in pursuit of some unknown eldritch goal.  The baron does little to dispel, and in truth doesn’t seem to notice, these rumors and is rarely seen outside of his manor preferring to instead send various proxies throughout the land to conduct his business.  Whatever holds true regarding the baron he remains a powerful entity capable of granting spells to those who worship him as their patron, making him undoubtedly the most powerful individual in the kingdom.

Sefea Cinderscale, Firefang Matron (Female semyedrak pyrokineticist) – The leader of the most recent semyedrak uprising came from a small tribal village hidden away in the forests of Talislav.  None know where she learned to harness her bizarre pyromancy, though many are quick to assume that the elusive Baron Ryn had something to do with it.  She is known to be clever, ruthless, and wholly devoted to her cause.  Though none know the final fate of the mistress of the Firefang Uprising, most believe she has retreated to somewhere within Talislav to tend her wounds and find refuge amongst her own kind.  While Ryn’s heralds deny any kind of involvement, it does little to dissuade the rumors.
