Adderfield

Half of Mortannia’s heartland, Adderfield, boasts some of the most stunning vistas in the entire country, as well as land well suited for mining, farming, and logging operations.  The county also shares a border with the eastern reaches of Schattenburg and previous Dukes of Adderfield have made efforts to expand their territory into the as-of-yet untainted lands.  Under the present reign of Count Radaman, Addderfield is largely seen as the most pleasant place to try and live in Mortannia, despite the recent incidents in the village of Mordas and the presence of the Accursed Wastes which seems to creep ever southward with each passing year.

  • Ketistok (LN Large City) – The northernmost urban population center in the kingdom, Ketistok is colloquially referred to as the “Northern Capital” and remains a bastion of light and goodness in an otherwise dark and grim country. The city and the surrounding lands are ruled by the charismatic Count Radaman Kazankov, a retired (but still active) duelist with a penchant for irreverent humor.  The city is not without its troubles, however, as Nameless Dark cultist activity is on the rise after the destruction of the nearby village of Mordas, and the undead of the nearby swamp range closer to the city’s walls with each passing month.
  • Mordas – Once a small, nearly nameless village whose only claim to fame was being the first stop on a trade route between Schattenburg and Mortannia, the village has seen a spike in notoriety after its cathedral detonated, releasing the Tainted Scion of Cowardice; Simon Mortav from his centuries-old prison. The village now lies empty, save for a permanent detachment of hardened crusaders from the Church of Purifying Light who maintain constant vigil over the curious portal from which he crawled through.  For now, it remains dormant.
  • The Accursed Wastes – Somewhere in this nigh-endless expanse of ever-shifting bog and scrubland lies the ruins of Castle Mortav, ancestral home to the legendary hero of Mortannia. In the aftermath of the Battle of the Fall, the broken forces of the Nameless Dark laid waste to this portion of the land, rendering an accursed place where the landscape shifts from season to season and the living are wholly unwelcome.  Only the most hardened of explorers dare to traverse the wastes in search of ancient relics or lost truths, and their numbers dwindle with each passing year.  It is said that a tiny village of like-minded hunters and adventurers exists on the outskirts of the wastes, but few who go out in search of it are ever known to return.  Despite all this, rumors of powerful artifacts dedicated to the Light or even more esoteric Antravarcian deities are said to rest in the depths of Castle Mortav, and if one were to retrieve them, they would certainly emerge as legends in their own right.

Count Radaman Kazankov (Male middle-aged Mortannian human swashbuckler) – Count Kazankov is a particularly flamboyant man known in his youth as being a hot-headed, passionate duelist.  Though his face is certainly scarred worse than most soldiers, he is still quick to flash a charming smile and bewitch a lonesome maiden.  Bolstered by his younger twin siblings: Arkan and Semira, Count Kazankov has a shrewd political mind and is well informed of the concerns of his people.  His romantic conquests are somewhat notorious amongst gossipmongers of Ketistok and further abroad, though the shrewd observer can tell that they are mostly a smokescreen to obfuscate any potential enemies.  With the recent turmoil in Kreschingrad, there has been a growing murmur amongst the city-dwelling populace for the Count to ride south and restore some order to the city and the country as a whole, but thus far he has shown no inclination to do so.
